Building Inclusion: The lessons from a transgender journey
Sophie and Danielle Wood are a married couple who have been together 31 years.
Their personal journey through Sophie's transition (male to female) has given them unique insights into the challenges that are faced when you feel like you don't belong.
Between them they have over 40 years of experience in the HR world and they have both led in-house Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging functions. Sophie has previously crafted a career in the L&D space and is also now a Mental Health First Aid accredited Instructor. Danielle has come up through the Talent Attraction/Talent Development/HRBP route and in more recent years has also become an ICF accredited Coach.
Their lived experiences and professional expertise make them uniquely qualified to guide organisations towards greater inclusivity and understanding which they do through their passion project Belonging Base.
Their passion comes through in a variety of Inspirational Talks they deliver together. These cover topics that raise awareness of how 'belonging' is vital to individual, team and company success using lived experience to illustrate the key themes.
Their keynotes are:
‘All Things Trans – Ask Anything’ – an informal interview facilitated by Danielle Wood with Sophie Wood exploring the trans-experience.
